I would say you have to work it all in one. First you have to join section 1
and 2 (to form one triangle of the hexagon) and make 6 copies of this
triangle. Once you join the 6 parts, you get the complete pattern. If you
look at the picture of the finished lace, you don't see a joining of two
patterns.

To start, follow the indications of the little numbers. Where there is a
little circle with no number, it seems to me you have to add one pair. Where
it says "2", 2 pairs, and where "3", 3pairs.

The patterns of Kortelahti are quite "autoexplicative". Where you have two
lines it means a braid is made. Sometimes you have three little lines: that
means a braid with three pairs. One line is just one pair.
