Oh good question, Jeri! My wish is for a book teaching one to design lace in the style of Old Flanders or early Binche. There are a few about modern lace design or torcon-type, but I'd like to see one specifically take on the questions of taking pairs from a ground into and out of motifs, and the thread paths in motifs to make them full. Probably a book on designing floral Bucks would address the same questions and could be extrapolated to the floral designs in old Flanders or early Binche, but I don't know of one for floral Bucks either.
Nancy Connecticut USA Hi Nancy I have been preparing my book 'Drafting patterns for torchon lace' originally published in 1986 to be printed by Books on Demand and it should be available soon. It describes how to draft torchon patterns on graph paper, adapt edgings into paperweight motifs, amts etc. and even freestyle pictures. I have sorted out all the text and have redrawn all the diagrams on AutoCad; the book was written before the advent of personal computers. I am currently designing the cover and have a few diagrams to redo as I have had problems with making the graph paper show. Regarding the Floral Bucks, I have been writing about this as the sequel to my 'All about making - Geometrical Bucks Point Lace' published in 1996 and it will contain information on drafting and designing the lace contained in it. I am more than 3/4 of the way through and so far I have reached page 130 and figure 284, but don't hold your breath, I still have more lace to design and make before it is finished.
