As I posted the original query I can assure that it was only referring to architects' linen and in the context solely of needle lace. I would not dream of using it for bobbin lace, for which I would consider it to be entirely inappropriate as it is not stiff enough for that purpose.

The original quest also did not refer to canaletto paper (most particularly as I had never heard of it before Susan posted about it!)
