Good Morning! Another sunny day in South Florida, only expected to hit 65*
today & we are thankful to be here. Thanks to Jeri Ames, I have inquired about
the Lace Exhibit at Flagler Museum (Whitehall) in Palm Beach. The staff has
advised that the exhibit is open daily on the 2nd floor. I'll be happy to
share additional info after I've seen what's on display. As to the Belgian
code, guess it proves yet again that a picture is worth a 1000 words! BTW--on
a historical fashion note--in today's edition of the Palm Beach Post, there was
a nice article about the effect of fashion on Florida's bird population in the
1870's to 1920. The feathered headpiece worn by Carrie in Sex and the City was
bird of paradise (dyed blue), circa 1870-1880 & was provided by New York
Vintage. There is an exhibit at the Palm Beach County History Museum (West
Palm Beach) until June showing historic photos & artifacts from the bird
plundering era. The Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 mad
e hunting & harvesting illegal. Who started the fashion for feathers?? Why
Marie Antoinette of course! Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Palm Beach Gardens,
Florida
