I’d like to draw Arachne members’ attention to an exhibition of lace by
Jenny Rees and Vicki Taylor here in Australia. It’s called “Rhythm
Interrupted – Life Redirected” and was inspired by the Canberra bushfires of
2003, and the Victorian bushfires of 2009. It consists of 15 panels 81 cm
wide by 122 cm deep, depicting the calm of the bush before the fire, the
drama of the fire, and the regeneration of the landscape afterwards.

It was officially opened at the Botanic Gardens in Canberra on 12th January
and will be there on display until 8th March.

You can get a idea of the work from one of the panels pictured on the
Garden’s website,
http://www.anbg.gov.au/gardens/whatson/exhibitions/2010-lace/index.html
or http://tinyurl.com/4vw5pq5
(the dimensions of the panels given in this are incorrect).

Click on “Panel example” for a look at just one of the panels.

It is hoped that this exhibition will be able to travel, and be seen not
only throughout Australia, but overseas as well.

Fortunate to be at the official opening - the impact is stunning.
