Although this is not *strictly* about lace, there was an item on the aol news yesterday that the BBC are not planning to make any more of the Larkrise to Candleford series. Although it is one of their most popular programmes, they say they want to get out while they are ahead.
I don't have a television, and keep forgetting to look at the episodes on i-player (which is why we don't have a television), but I know that it has had good feedback here on arachne both as an enjoyable series and as a shop window (even if a little innacurate) for lacemaking. Apparently the viewers are up in arms about it, and as many as 80(!) had written to the BBC. Now, when the viewing figures were in the millions, 80 doesn't seem to me to be very many. If you want more episodes, I suspect there needs to be many more people protesting about the cut. On the other hand, they may just have run out of storyline - not watching it, I don't know how much is based on the original (excellent) largely autobiographical book and how much is pure fiction. For example, as far as I can remember, the much mentioned bit about Queenie's lace not being wanted anymore isn't in the book.
