Hello All! Thank you Dot for posting more info about your fan frame. You made me take a 2nd look at the webshot pics, & now I wonder if the frame originally contained a mirror? Looking at the rear side pic, there is a channel & what appears to be little moveable "ears" to hold an item in place. Mirror-making was an art form back in the day, with all sorts of fanciful shapes. That's why it's so expensive to replace vintage pieces today because "manufacturers" only make square, oblong, round & oval--of limited size range to boot. AND, an original mirror would have been beveled of course! The other possibility is a picture/photo with a velvet card back that has gone missing. Either way, it's a lucky find & a fun inspiration for creativity. The filling--I was thinking needlelace, but perhaps lace of any technique, "mounted" on a colored mat, cut to fit, would show off the work. I'd love to see the results, "before & after" photos, posted on webshots when you are finished . You go girl! Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
