Hello to all out there in Arachne Land, I have a technique question I would love some input on.
I've been trying to advance my Milanese skills after taking a great class from Louise Colgan last summer at Sweet Briar. I'm working through the Lace Guild booklet "An Introduction to Milanese Lace. After completing the pattern on page 20 "L = Lace" I'm not pleased with the area where the two tapes cross over. There is a noticeable interruption of the cloth stitch area where they cross on the right side of the lace. Obviously I'm not correctly placing the pairs from underneath used to work into the top piece to tie them together. Any suggestions or techniques you use to secure the tapes where they cross over each other? I learn so much from the wonderful posts you are all willing to take time for. I was especially pleased with the advice to prick as you go the outside edge of Milanese recently, by Jacquie in Lincolnshire, so I can keep the edge as straight as possible. That has helped very much in my quest to make smooth lace. Looking forward to meeting many of you at the IOLI Convention Arachne lunch this year!
