Well, I just have to report I've spent a strenuous evening trying to start
another Binche lesson from Verbeke-Billiet's first syllabus -- #2. I had set
it up about a year ago, winding the bobbins, then set it aside. Lordy what a
mess. I started at 7 pm , it is now 12:30pm and I have the first 2 square
inches done. I had to take the thing off the pillow twice because I hadn't
been smart about where I started. Finally I spent my dinnertime studying the
diagram, making a copy of it, and marking in the simplest way to set up. I
got that straight. Then I had trouble working the Binche snowflakes in half
stitch. I must have worked each one 3 times until I figured out how to not
lose my place. I really thought I had mastered those, but it has been over a
year since I made any. I guess that is the lesson: don't let too much time
elapse between the basic exercises and trying to work the patterns which use
them. I think the rest won't be so hard.

Actually, I'm laughing at all this. Of course, the whole time I was
struggling with the bobbin lace, I was worrying about defending it from my
cat. I have 2. One runs away the instant I say "no". The other one is more
persistent. I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED by this Binche or my cats!!! My brain is
really tired.

I wonder how long it will be until I can post a picture?
