Excellent LED head lamps at Home Depot. I expect also at Lowe's. (or further
west, Andersons' or Menards?)

loop

Just Yesterday I was discussing this  on the playground of my son's
elementary
with a man that does Cross Stitch.

I could try to find his email,
or see him next week. He hates the acrylic ones
since they collect dust due
to static electricity.

What he found is a magnifier which uses a convex and
concave lens stuck together
so you get an even magnification instead of
having a focal area surrounded by
some distortion.

He said the plastic
version is about $40 USD and the glass one was around $120
USD.

If you are
interested in this let me know and I will attempt to contact him. He
does
those Scarlet Quince cross stitch projects (http://www.scarletquince.com/).
I
have always loved Durer's Hare, so I might have to do this one. It's only
around 77910 stitches so not too bad.

One thing he noted, that I must say
should have been obvious but appears to not
be, is that he uses head lamps
(the camping kind). He says look for LED with a
wide even spread. He said
they have a nice white that allows for great color
clarity.

I strap a book
lamp to my pillow some days. I'll be looking for a nice head lamp
soon.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good magnifier or jewelers loop that
is good for viewing lace?  It is time for me to get a new one, and I have
never really been happy with the one I have anyhow.
