Hi Arachnids I Know a lot of you have written books. Do you belong to ALCS? This is a world-widecollecting agency and they collect any dues for you world wide, something like our PLR, Public Lending Rites, in UK whereby we receive payment for books loaned out by our National Library Service. ALCS collects similar dues from other countries. In participating countries there is also a scheme that colleges can opt into. Then their tutors can legally copy a limited amount from books to supply to students and a royalty is paid to the author. ALCS track these payments down as well and passes them on to you. You cannot lose, there is no up-front fee to pay to ALCS, they take a percentage, about 9%.
If you are a tutor working for a college ask if they belong to the scheme. If they do you can supply material from books to your students and fill in a form so the author receives the royalty. Best wishes to all authors and tutors, you are the means by which our craft will continue.
