Every couple of years I put out a "hopeful" appeal for two hanging bobbins that seem to have disappeared "off the face of the earth"!!
The First one is: Matthias and William Lilley HUNG 1829. That just "might" be around somewhere in some lucky persons collection. The second one I suspect is long, long gone! SARAH DAZELEY HUNG 1843 If you have either of these "smile broadly" and drop me a note please! ( Even pretty please!) IF, you have the Dazeley, pat your wallet as I think it might fill up quite well. (Should you so chose to sell!) I think the Lilley would sell very well too! I need to tell you that I trawl the museums hopefully from time to time. No luck. :( In all honesty, David and Christine Springett cast doubt on either of their existence at this time. I like the idea of serendipity... I believe "happenstance" might also be appropriate. Your ever optimistic bobbin friend PS. While I am on about hanging bobbins I would like a better picture of the Franz Muller hanging bobbin too. I am like a kid, always wanting "more".
