Lorelei, and others...

I don't use a ghost pillow. I didn't hear about this idea until I had already worked out my own system. I use colored post-it arrow tabs that are see-through. (My favorites are actually made by a company called "Redi-Tag" with the brand name of "See-Notes". The Post-it version has a heavy black line around the edge, which I don't like. The See-Notes do not have this line.) This is essentially the same process, except that I don't set a tab at every pin worked, but when I finish a row, or a bit of ground, etc., I put the flag on the diagram indicating where I set the pin. When I leave my work for the day (or even for a short break...), I use a special tab on which I have written "last pin", indicating this is where I stopped and where I should pick up again. This has the advantage of being able to be carried in a folder without disturbing a lot of pins.

If you like the ghost pillow method, the addition of a movable "last pin" tab may be a helpful addition.

You all may remember I wrote about a month or 2 ago about a Binche piece I was
starting and having trouble with. Several arachne members suggested the "ghost
pillow" or "idiot board" idea for keeping track of where I am. And it really
works! I'm nearly finished with the first side, and the ghost pillow has made
it possible. At the difficult spots, as soon as I do a stitch or set a pin, I
also set a pin into the diagram, which is attached to a piece of foam. That
way I can walk away from the pillow and find my place again.
