Some quilted, some felted and even some with embellishments on the surface like buttons and beads. For stability I fuse them to a product called "Timtex" available at fabric stores or online.
To protect them I will sometimes place them into clear "postcard sleeves" which I purchase at: http://www.univenture.com/shop/7x5_photo_and_postcard_envelope_pack_of_25.php I don't always put them into a sleeve because it's fun to have them arrive with the stamp on the back actually canceled. I do always take them to the post office and ask for "hand canceling" which isn't a problem for them and costs me .48 cents extra. I think lace postcards would be great! I'll try some myself, thanks for the idea Sue. Vickie in Va.
