I just was searching for something else, and ran across the tab I had started searching on. Though I don't have time to look much, I thought you might enjoy this article and find it informative, as it has a visual and commentary with comparisons on Silk Purse Twist: http://patternsalacarte.blogspot.com/2008/09/so-what-is-purse-twist-anyway.ht ml
I was glad that she surmised the same, that #8 perle cotton is similar in thickness (but had the same comment, that it wasn't as sturdy for all the obvious reasons). Didn't read it all through, but I would feel confident in replicating it with a Japanese silk, such as YLI (though there may be other vendors), which you can get fairly easily. The etsy listing of Purse Silk Twist that I sent previously appears to be finer, and another link had a commentary in that they used to be called/sized very fine, fine, etc. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out! <S> Best, Susan Reishus - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected].
