Hi Peg I haven't (yet!) come across anything labelled as Coats & Clarks mercerized cotton sewing thread #50 so I can't compare it to DMC Machine Broder 50. Is this thread 2 ply or 3 ply? If it's 2 ply it's likely to be of a similar thickness but if it's 3 ply it will probably be somewhat thicker than the DMC thread.
