Hello All! Sr. Claire has raised a really interesting question & I can hardly wait to hear from the experts on this one! A friend who does hardanger often dyes her completed work because coton perle doesn't come in all the colors she wants to use. Thinking I could post a helpful tidbit, I pulled up short when I realized--that's cotton on linen--oops that doesn't help. So I did the Google thingy & found lots of support for dyeing the yarn itself but none for the completed item. It seems the sticky wicket here is the setting of the dye. Having dyed more than a few items myself, all required heat setting (except tea). Having also applied heat to wool that resulted in felt, I can only wonder whether there are dyes that don't require heat to make them colorfast. Would love to know!! The other option, if the item is only just begun, would be to dye the yarn & restart the project. There are lots of internet recipes & videos from which to choose. Special wishes for a spee! dy recovery from chemo & future good health. Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Erie, PA USA
