Thanks Brenda for your speedy reply! I hadn't heard of this stuff before this
week either. Vineyard Silks were included in my needlepoint kit (14 count
canvas), are about the size of DMC #3 perle & have a very soft twist. The
Wiltex company is in Massachusetts where they also make other silks & a Merino
wool product. The silk is Chinese, quite lustrous & easy to stitch with; I
haven't tried the other silks or wool yet. We didn't get full skeins, just
enough strands to work the painted canvas but I will be glad to forward some
when I am finished & have leftovers. Otherwise, I'll check in Florida & cut
from a new skein so let me know how much you need for a test strip. When I
checked their website, it looks like their threads are only available in the
US. :-( I am curious how this product would work up in a larger scale piece
of "modern" lace--primarily because of the luster, hand & draping
characteristics. They claim it doesn't pill so it would make a lovely scarf. !
