Dear All I have received an email from Leigh C. Eckmair, Historian/Archivist of the The Gilbertsville Free Library in NY with an image of a small piece of turned wood which she thinks may be a lace bobbin.
I have posted the image to http://paternoster.orpheusweb.co.uk/lace/misc/IDquery.htm Personally I think it's too long to be the shank of a bobbin with the head broken off - assuming that the ruler is in inches. It's more likely to be a spindle from a doll's house staircase or maybe an ornate wooden box/basket. Does anyone else have suggestions as to what it might be.
