Gentle Spiders -

With Avital's permission, I am writing to let you know that there are still places available at the lace retreat, "Lace at Sweet Briar", which will be held in Virginia for a week in June 2012.

Susie Johnson is offering a class which offers the lacemaker several options. You may bring a stalled project which she can help you re-start, you may choose to start something completely new with her help, or you may decide to start or continue your studies in Withof. Susie is exceptionally talented and a wonder teacher, and is knowledgeable in an amazing range of laces. She would ask that you consult with her before coming to be certain that she is prepared for what you have in mind in her class.

Holly Van Sciver is teaching the English Laces, with a focus on Thomas Lester Lace. If you have a background in Honiton, Bedfordshire, and Bucks, you will delight in the Lester laces which combine features of each. If, on the other hand, you don't feel that you're ready for Lester Lace just yet, she will be delighted to help you continue you work in the above named laces. Holly has focused on the English laces since she first discovered lacemaking while a student in England. She will also be our primary vendor for the retreat.

Anny Noben-Slegers is teaching a cyber class in design of Flanders and Binche laces. This class is intended for students who have done design work with Anny before and want to continue this work. Anny will be in her home in Belgium, and we will communicate with her numerous times each day via the internet (Skype, scans sent with emails, etc.). There is one place left in this class, which is limited to six students.

Louise Colgan and Bobbi Donnelly will also be teaching during the week. Their classes in Milanese and Tonder laces are filled.
