I must say that I just LOVE my aluminium (or aluminum if you are in N. America and perhaps other places in the world) bobbins. They feel sooo smooth and cool and they hold a lot of thread too. They were popular in the early '80's (marriage of Chuck and Di and birth of Prince William, and a couple of 1982 Lace days) and I think I got mine through Sebalace in Yorkshire who are no longer there as far as I know.
