I tried to post a comment on your photo site but it told me my email address
was
invalid. I checked it twice to make sure it was this one. I was going to say
that I too would have liked to see the lady doing the ground on the fan as it
was so uniform in size. It almost looked machined made. When I was there a
long time ago, maybe 10 years or more, there were about 7 students making lace
and I was fascinated because I had never tried needlelace. How I would have
enjoyed sitting with them now, watching the process as I know what it entails.
There was a younger woman who spoke some English at that time and she
explained, and I think I got it right, that they worked one piece between them,
all working their own particular stitch and passing the piece on. Maybe that
has changed if there are so few of them now. She told me it took them about 3
months to complete a doiley. They were just as fascinated looking at photos of
my bobbin lace on a flat pillow with Midlands bobbins as I was of watching them
stitch and chatter. Thanks for posting your photos.

<I'm slowly getting through my photos and uploading them. Today I
posted the photos I took at the Museo del Merletto in Burano.
