I was in my local Dollar Tree today and spotted travel mugs in the Christmas section that have a hollow area between the outer and inner chambers. I paid my $1 and when I got home I took out the paper santa liner and replaced it with some lace and a plain piece of paper. There was plenty of room as the mug is not huge on the inside, so even thick lace would probably fit. They are intended for children's drawings. Mine has a piece of Brugge lace that I did in a class many years ago.
I have placed a photo on Flickr. You can see it in the photostream or in my set, which is the one with my lace tap on the cover.
