I can't remember whether I've shared this tip with you before, so here goes.

I've recently finished the six pointed star mat from La Dentelle Torchon -
Nouvelles Creations by Martine Piveteau. The open centre of the lace is
also a six pointed star.

To mount it on some fabric, I traced the inner edge of the pricking onto
some tissue paper, tacked this to my piece of linen, machine stitched
around the traced line, then tore the tissue paper away. I then pinned, then
tacked my lace on the fabric, lining it up with the machine stitching.

I am now in the process of hand stitching (using the four sided stitch) the
lace to the fabric, making sure I am stitching over the machined line. When
I have finished this, I will just cut the fabric off close to my stitching.
The row of machine stitching will be a reinforcement for my hand stitching.

I discovered this method when I had to mount a flimsy, deep oval edge on a
lightweight piece of material, and was very pleased with the result.
