Susan Sue Thompson, in her book INTRODUCTION TO HONITON LACE, does show a aewing done into a sidebar. And I remember being told that using both the top and bottom sidebar of any pinhole for sewings would allow you to turn a curve more fluently. But I don't remember who I heard that from. I took 1 Honiton workshop with Sheila Wells, so it was probably her (although I can't be sure). This diagram from my website shows what I understand as a sidebar sewing. http://lynxlace.com/images-h-det-diag/sewi5.JPG
If one can hang on 2 new pairs at a pinhole by sewing each pair onto a sidebar, I don't see any reason why turning curves can't be achieved the same way. My motto is "do what works".
