The good part about helping by emails and photos, rather than Skype, is that you both don't have to be there at the same time. My student can send me her picture even if I'm not home (or as she often does, late at night - she's a night owl, I'm a morning person) - I can look it at my leisure and reply at a time that suits me. It's not as good as face to face tuition, but it is working well for us.
