It is nearly that time of year again. This year's convention is going to
be held in Kidderminster, and takes place on Friday and Saturday 5 and 6
April, and The Hollies (which is not too far away) will be open all day
on the Sunday, where there will be study workshops on the Guild's
collection of
prickings and the chance for anyone to go to see the exhibitions in our
Exhibition Room and up the road at The Red House Glass Cone. As well as
displays by local lace groups, we will also have ten suppliers
attending this year. You do not have to be a Guild member to attend
Convention. Details are on the Guild's website, and in January's Lace.
(I'm sure the eagle eyed amongst you spotted my typing error in the date
on the Agenda, for which I apologise!).
I hope no one minds me mentioning this on list, and I assume it also
applies to the other major lace associations (OIDFA, IOLI, etc), but as
we have our AGM coming up it has been realised recently that few members
have spotted the bit in the Constitution that allows them to apply for a
proxy vote at General Meetings. In The Lace Guild's case, this is done
by contacting The Hollies (it would be helpful if you can enclose an IRC
to cover the postage, either with the application or with the form when
it is returned if requesting by email) and asking for a proxy form,
which must then be completed and returned to The Hollies by no later
than 2pm on Wednesday 3rd April. (The forms are individually numbered to
ensure that each member only casts one vote, and your proxy is legally
bound to vote according to your wishes).
We have a number of resolutions this year which members may wish to vote
on, and this is how you can vote even though you cannot attend the
meeting itself.
