I am quite disciplined: when I stop my lacemaking, I always lift the pillow off the stand and onto the table in my craft room.

Watch out, Agnes. Our Newfoundland, Sirius, (after Harry Potter's Sirius Black) wags her tail, and if she's in the right place, the bobbins move. And since the pillow with the altar cloth is right by the sliding glass doors in the kitchen, where Sirius will go in and out, I'm sure some day she'll bump into it a little too much when I've forgotten to move it to a safer place, and bum. Fortunately it's 40/2 linen, so breakage is minimal. It's ok as long as I move it closer to the kitchen table where it is somewhat braced, but nothing is perfect. And then there's the long black hair in the fine Flanders and Valenciennes lace.... reverse tweezers work well there.
