Karen Look at these photos from my website: http://lynxlace.com/images/bobbins-traditional.jpg The 5th from the left is a large Danish bobbin which I use for pearl 5 or linen 20/2 or similar. The 6th from the right would be better for something thicker, like linen 10/2, pearl 3, etc.
These are some I made specifically for thick threads: http://lynxlace.com/images/bobbins.jpg The blue yarn is 10/2 linen. But I could have made them with larger necks (longer and deeper. The large thick bobbins are 6 inches long. The few smaller ones on the left are the same length as standard bobbins, but are a little thicker. This one shows the 6 inch bobbins in use.
