Now the question is "What's a twinkee?"

You mean you are blessed by not having Twinkees in your stores? It's a small
rectangular sponge cake with cream filling. I know that sounds rather good.
However, I'm not sure it's really good for a person. It's got a reputation of
never spoiling. Supposedly Twinkees on the shelf for 10 years are still good.
It has ingredients that keep it from rotting. I have doubts that these
ingredients should be consumed.

One of the newest 'treats' at state fair is deep fried twinkees. Yep... on top
of the original calories, they are adding the frying oil.

The original Twinkees company went bankrupt a few months ago and the News said
that it was the end of Twinkees and the other treats they made. Now they are
reappearing in the stores. A Canadian company bought the production rights and
have started producing them. The chocolate cupcakes, Ho-Ho's, with chocolate
frosting and a cream filling are supposed to reappear in mid summer. They also
made Snowballs, round white cake balls with marshmallow frosting and covered
with coconut, either white or pink.

When these were first made, they were probably quite good. That was before so
many chemical ingredients were put in things to stretch their shelf life. I
haven't had one in many years... not since I learned what was in them.

Alice in Oregon ... still trying to decide what lace to put on display next
Saturday when I have the ladies luncheon program.
