Gabriele, Kindle is a brandmark and is connected with amazon. And this is in my opinion a problem, you can bye e.books only from them. There excist several other e-readers like mine from Sony. Than you are free to bye where you want. The e.reader from Thalia are also connected with Thalia. And if you have a i-Pad or a i-Pad Mini your are bound on Apple. But if you want to buy one take one who has e-ink system you can't see color than but the script is perfect. Newer models have an integrated light, Sony offers a little lamp you can "pin" on the reader. Hope this helps.
