Dear David,
Welcome home. I went back and watched that episode of Call the Midwife to see
the anomaly. It is true that the finished blanket was all granny squares, but
if you look at the two midwives near the phone, they are knitting what appears
to be garter stitch squares, and matching the size to the granny squares in
their laps. But they are definitely knitting, and what is from the needles is
garter stitch. I did not see Sr. Monica Joan making anything, although they
talked about it. So, it is a lack of continuity, because it does not appear
that any of the knitted squares made it to the blanket, but at least I didn't
see anyone knitting granny squares, which I've never heard of. And did you see
the LACY baby knitted things in the beginning. (Got to get the lace content in
somewhere.) The story can be watched on pbs.org, and then search for Call the
Midwife, and you can watch the video. Very good series, but no lace. These
were poor East Enders.

Lyn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA where we've had some real summer days.
Sunny, hot, 85F 26.5C, but a nice breeze. I won't let DH turn on the air
conditioning yet.
