The fringe twister is a very clever variation on an electric or hand cranked
drill and a door handle. The only thing I'd do differently for a long cord
that I'm going to double and allow it to twist on itself is to have the
twisting going on over a space with the strands threaded through one of the
handles of a pair of scissors to give it weight. Then, when you free the
ends the cord doesn't twist on itself randomly, but will hang vertically
and naturally give an even twist. Obviously I cut through the end loop and
remove the scissors!
