Last week I was lucky enough to visit the Lace Guild Contrasts exhibit in England and was fascinated with the pieces in the competition. It wasn't as large as I had expected it to be, but it was well worth the visit. There were a number of women there with husbands in tow who were being educated on how the pieces were made, including mine. We were driving from Conwy in North Wales down to Leamington Spa and I persuaded my husband to take a detour off the motorways so that we could also go to the offices of the Lace Guild nearby. I paid my dues for this year as I had forgotten to send them earlier and then was able to visit the library and go through the boxes of books for sale. I managed to purchase seven more books for my lace library so I left a happy lacemaker. Its worth a visit if you are ever in the area.
Our trip was a vacation to Ireland, Wales and England and we were able to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary with ten friends, some of whom we had not seen since the wedding. We managed to recognize them all and had a wonderful time reminiscing. Had to buy an extra suitcase again to bring home the purchases.
