I live in the United States in the southwest so I don't have a problem with rusting needles, pins, scissors, etc., but you might try silica gel desiccant packets. Save them from products you buy (they are always inside shoes), buy pre-made packets, or make your own. Buy some desiccant in one of those containers you put in your closet. Make small pouches out of a breathable fabric and fill them with the desiccant.
