I would like to express my thanks for all your sympathy cards and emails.
It has proved impossible to reply individually to you all – there are
simply hundreds of messages.
I hope you will understand.
In particular, I would like to thank all those who attended the funeral
and particular thanks to those who travelled such long distances to come.
The family was very pleased to see you all and meet with the lacemaking
community.
There was also a full turnout from the neighbours.
My regret is that I was not around when she died – it was one day after my
operation for a replacement heart valve. Because I was in intensive care
for three weeks and high dependancy for a further two , I could not be
told until later.
The service centred on the poem 'Myfanwy' by John Betjeman – Myfanwy
being Sheila's middle name. Included was a version of this poem set to
music by David Essex.

Several tributes were read out – copies of which have been requested.
They can be obtained by emailing me privately.

My final thanks are to all of you who have contributed to the bursary set
up by the Lace Guild in Sheila's memory.
