Hello All! Another bookworm has been posted to Flickr, this one with DMC memory thread spectacles. For those outside the US, Mr. Magoo is a near-sighted cartoon character, hence the name. Yes, there are plenty of lacemaking errors so please use the ten foot pole rule! My goal was to create a little sampler pattern where I could try out various braids, starts & finishes. Since I can't draw, I adapted known braid sections to form a new entity. Some Stef Francis thread had been calling my name so it was picked for worm duty. It was quite an adventure & let's just say that starting with a scroll is far easier (to me) than ending with one! Perhaps my worm farm will grow by spring & the kiddies at the library won't be too critical of the lace. Both prickings have been scanned to a .jpg file so contact me off list if you want one. They are rough & some fudging will be needed! Thanks Sue for posting the link to the BBCFour program on Opus A. Yowza--what a treat! With ap! ologies to Britain, I was surprised to find that Or Nue, lovely in its own right, originated with the Dutch. For more golden embroidery, RSN will be conducting Day Classes in Williamsburg, VA May 16-May 29, 2014. Nicola Jarvis & Tracy Franklin will teach. Details to follow on the RSN site. Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Erie, PA USA
