I'm self taught from a book - Rosemary Shepherd's "Introduction to Bobbin Lacemaking" which is based on the correspondence lessons she wrote for the Australian Lace Guild. When you live in a small country town in Australia, there's no other option. The book is still available from Rosemary direct at www.lacepressaustralia.com, and is now in its 4th reprint. It is interesting to read the history of this book in an article on the site.
