We in my part of Wales got off very lightly considering what was expected. The storm's path remained on the English side of the Severn Estuary (aka Bristol Channel) and we were deluged (nothing new there!) rather than blown to bits. According to our local news the main problem was flooded roads and I imagine some trees may have come down simply because we had a prolonged period of high winds on Saturday and during daylight hours on Sunday and the ground was already sodden. Southern England suffered the most and no doubt people from that area will tell of their experiences. Even there the event was less serious than the hurricane of 1987. Patricia in Wales Dear spiders! I am so concerned about all of my friends in the UK and Europe who are experiencing the storms! These are so similar to the storms we had last year, and they were devastating! So, please keep us posted as you get past the worst of the storms, and as you learn of others who were not so fortunate, let our list know.
