today when I was in Aldi I spied an interesting little lamp and at
$17 thought it worth giving a try.
It's called the BBQ Light by Coolabah so is probably only available
in Australia. The globe itself contains 12 small LEDs and they are
mounted on a long aluminium swivel neck. The whole devise has a
sturdy clamp to go on a desk or coffee table, and then underneath the
clamp there are 3 very strong magnets. I can't really see the
necessity for the magnets, but have to say they are simply marvelous
for holding my cigarette tin!!
It runs on 3 AAA batteries. So it will be interesting to see how long
these last. I'd say probably quite a while or the whole thing
wouldn't be worth manufacturing as it's entirely aluminium. The
beauty of the neck is that it is so long that I can pull it
immediately over where I'm working on a complicated piece of Chantilly lace.
