Maybe it was a diferent lace pattern. I will have to look later on...but you
could be right about it being an handkerchief edging.

I believe that Apple Blossom is by Geraldine Stott
from her book " a Visual Introduction to Bucks Point Lace" and is a square
edging with corners so could be used for a mat or a hankerchief or the like. 
But the pattern is not nearly as complicated as  Miss Channers mat although
just as beautiful.
