Jeri,
I am sure you know from your research that matters such as copyright do
not stand still, as just occasionally laws are changed and new, more
helpful, articles are published. There is not sufficient traffic on
Arachne for us to need to cull discussions at the moment, in fact it has
been nice to find something to talk about!
Not everyone is proficient in spelling, and if your computer/phone
cannot bring up the previous message to reply to and you need to enter
the subject line separately, sometimes your mind insists that it is
something that sounds the same - either that or automatic spell checkers
play havoc! Please do not be so pedantic that you send our shy members
back into lurkdom.
For a quick answer to a question it is usually quicker to ask on the
list than to try and remember where the archives are to be found, (the
link you give below will soon be deleted or hidden away in a digest or
filed emails, as it does not have the subject line "Arachne archives"!)
and search through them - not all of us are retired with time on our
hands. :-)
New discussions on a topic often brings out new opinions, which surely
help, rather than hinder, research? If we only discussed items that
were new, Arachne conversation would very soon dry up altogether, and we
don't want that to happen!
On a personal note, for my way of sorting things it would be helpful if
people didn't put "lace chat" in the subject line of a message being
sent to "lace", and vice versa - this is because I have the lists in
separate folders, filtered on those words, so usually when something
like "moved to lace chat" appears in the subject line it isn't, it stays
in the lace folder! I recognise that not everyone files things the same
as me, and I'm not all that bothered by it, I'm just using it as an
illustration that there are things on a list like this that we sometimes
have to learn to live with, rather than issuing edicts. :-)

It seems a good time to mention that in our archives there are:
662 messages in the file "Copyright"
265 messages in the file "Miss Channer's Mat"
3 messages in the file "Miss Chandler"
499 messages in the file "Alex Stillwell"
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/index.html
It is possible to check and see what has already been written, especially
on an over-worked subject like "Copyright".
