Sorry everyone! There appears to be some "glitch" between my hitting Send and
the message arriving in Arachne. So I'll retype it here instead of using
paste.

The website for the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library is at
http://www.ncsml.org . If you look at the Museum History part of the website
you will see some pictures of the kroje (costumes). "Faces of Freedom" is
their large permanent exhibit. In that new exhibit area there is a turntable
with about 10 or 12 kroje on display on manikins with mirrors on the walls.
You can stand and watch and see all sides of all of the costumes. The first
thing you notice about the costumes is the use of color which varies by
region. There as you look closer you see the various kinds of embellishment
including embroidery and lace. There is a lot of variety in the lace and
interesting use of colors in some of the lace. Some IOLI members attended the
kroje symposium the museum had pirior to the flood in 2008. Since the flood,
the museum building was lifted, moved north along the river bank, rotated and
then set on top of a new foundation with additional gallery and office space.
There is street level parking inside the new foundation which is wonderful
during the winter. Watch the "monumental Move" video to see how the building
was moved and explanded.

Hope the above comes through!
Anita
