Alysn is still very much part of the Beetroot Tree, she is also a member of
the Living Threads Group, http://livingthreadstextileartists.com/, a textile
group mostly based in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The names of some of
the members may be familiar to those who have an interest in textiles of all
varieties. They also have lace makers as members, hold an exhibition every 2
years and do a series of workshops twice a year. I have attended many of
these and have 3 booked for the summer school this year. I have taken
courses there with Alysn which have been both enjoyable and hard work as
she introduces you to new ideas and concepts.

Alysn Midgelow-Marsden - that name rings a bell from a craft centre in
Draycott, Derbyshire called The Beetroot Tree - maybe she's moved - either
from NZ to England over 15 years ago, or from England to NZ in the last 5-10
years, but if it is the same person (which by the description of the book,
and my knowledge of her work, sounds likely) I have met her. There are some
very innovative exhibitions held at the centre, and it is well worth a
visit.
