Can anyone help me with a picture of the above please.
Brian I was hoping I could. I've had an antler from an Indonesian Deer here for about 10 years waiting for someone to turn it.
A few months back I gave it to my brother-in-law who was over from Hobart, Tasmania. He turns bobbins and was keen to have a go. Alas, he told me that when he cut it the entire inside was like sponge and as such, useless.
However, if you're interested, last week at the Victorian Lace Day in Melbourne, I did buy an antique bobbin which I'm sure is horn. It's quite long and may just be antler for all I know. I'll photograph it if you want
