What happens at Convention stays at Convention? ;-)

Seriously, it's a subjective experience, and hard to put words to it. The
vendor table that sent me reeling with delight might only warrant a ho-hum from
somebody else, while another person might have found the perfect thread they've
been searching for forever while I walked right by it. It's not that there
aren't stories, but that there aren't stories worth broadcasting. I thought the
food was really good but somebody else might not have liked it so much. I liked
the spread-out nature of the venue but many of the ladies really aren't pleased
at having to walk very far. So what can I say?

I could tell you about the crazy lady in my class who drew an entire pattern
with the point ground going sideways, but she might not want that spread
around. (It's all right, it was me. I confess, but I recovered well.)

I could tell you that I bought lots of books. Buying books and supplies is one
of the reasons I love going to Convention. I had books in mind when I went
there (Hello, Alex Stillwell) but then I saw other books I hadn't heard of and
bought them too. (Best to go with a bit of room on your credit card.) Plus I
bought some threads and some really cute Stuart Johnson jaspe continental
bobbins. I ate very well, at the restaurant in the hotel, at the restaurant
across the street, and even at an emporium called "Smashburger" that I ran into
when I ventured out into the hot hot sun to find the local Barnes & Noble.

I could tell you I enjoyed the evening lace activities, like the Tat-Off, the
presentation by Karen Thomspon on War Lace at the Tuesday luncheon, and the
closing banquet, where items from Lia Baumeister's lace collection were paraded
around the room by a bevy of models while Mrs. Baumeister told us the
background of each piece. Plus the lace display room was really fantastic.

All that and I got to take classes. If you have been to a convention before,
you know what it's like. If you haven't, maybe you could start saving your
pennies. The locations of the next 3 years of conventions are on the IOLI
website - you could start planning to attend one of them now.
