Sue, I was also about to say try threading the needle from the other end of
the thread.

Liz, I'd forgotten that trick because I never do it myself. However, I do distinctly recall learning it back in '75 when a tapestry teacher was looking at my work. She stressed how important it was to be able to feel the twist in your wool and thread the needle accordingly.
