Janice Most gimps need to be at least four times the thickness of the main thread. In terms of w/cm either: divide the w/cm of the main thread by 2.5 or multiply the w/cm of the gimp by 2.5 to get the thickness of the main thread.
27 x 2.5 = 67.5 So a single strand of the S303 (Tex30) silk would be ok for the finest silk threads (60 w/cm and finer) 15 x 2.5 = 42.5 A single strand of S1003 (100Tex) would work with main threads in the region of 40 w/cm and finer.
