The Lace Study Centre at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a must.
If you book ahead they will bring out any examples of Lace from their collection that you are interested in and you can study them at your leisure. They have all the whiz bang equipment for doing this including a magnifying projector. If you are lucky as I was, you will also get a guided Tour by Devon Thein of all the Lace related portraits in the Gallery.

Subject: [lace] New York lace groups and shopping

One of my sons lives in New York city, Manhattan to be specific. I plan
to visit him in the next few months. Could any locals tell me if there
is a lace group that meets there, and let me know where and when they meet.

Also is there any must see places, I plan to visit all the usual museums
and galleries while he is at work. But are there any special lace type
places?
