Brian, I don't think Monsieur Roux is claiming to have invented a new
bobbin, it's "new" for him, just as suppliers will label "new" threads they
haven't carried before.
I bought a tatting shuttle rather along the same lines at Le Puy in
October, but didn't see any of these bobbins; I can confirm that he is an
excellent turner, with a practical and imaginative mind - some time ago he
came across a stack of pre-bakelite plastic (I can't remember the name) and
made some bobbins and tatting shuttles. I don't know if the supplies ran
out, or if they didn't have much success, because I haven't seen them
since. What's more, both he and his wife are lovely, friendly people!

Sue from Montelimar, where the Mistral was blowing at 120 kph yesterday -
and summer temperatures announced for tomorrow
